madewell is a LIE

This is the Krissie Wells’s Official Unendorsement (or Non-Endorsement or something) of Madewell, a company started by my beloved JCrew, which makes clothes that you drool over until they promptly fall apart after a few months (or weeks).

See Exhibit A.

Exhibit A

I bought this knit top, wore and washed it a few times, and voila. Within a month of owning it, there are two holes where the tag is sewn in. Certainly, it’s a lightweight knit, and I’m no sewing expert, but there should be a way to attach a tag without it ultimately ruining the aesthetic of the (not inexpensive) shirt.

Exhibit B.

That you see is a dress I’ve worn three times. And there’s a big hole in the armpit! This isn’t a lightweight fabric. It’s shoddily sewn together. This is Forever 21 quality at Anthropologie prices!

: )

So, I will not be purchasing another item from Madewell because, to make the obvious pun, it’s not made well.

always on your side! xoxo

Which is a funny way of saying that, because I’ve sometimes gotten stuff that’s Forever 21 at Anthro prices… at Anthro.
