The Oscars is the only awards show I ever watch because a) why would I care about the Grammy’s as they reward people like Lady Antellope or whatever it is and b) I like movies a lot. Here are my very expert thoughts, because this year, I saw ALL TEN Best Picture nominated films.
Best Picture
Zee Nominees: Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty
Who I Think Will Win: Lincoln (other high-odds pics: SLP, ZDT, Argo)
Who Should Win: This is hard. Django Unchained was probably my favorite because it was a wildly entertaining movie. Argo also. Amour was a beautiful film but not one I want to watch again and also has an ice cube’s chance in hell of winning. Beasts of the Southern Wild blew my mind. I personally HATED Lincoln, I don’t understand what the fuss is about, and I think my dislike for Spielberg stems from my hatred for Dawson Leery (who gets it?). So, I think my choice is Beasts of the Southern Wild.

I don’t get the fuss over Lincoln either, but I do think Daniel Day Lewis gave an amazing performance and deserves to win. Also, I hate Les Mis so definitely not Hugh Jackman (to be fair I haven’t seen it.) I’m hoping Russel gets the Director win, and I haven’t seen enough of the movies the ladies are nominated for to give an unbiased opinion. I do love Jennifer Lawrence and thought she gave an excellent performance. Also I think you are ridiculous for thinking Ang Lee will win. Spielberg is my guess even though he doesn’t deserve it.

i have never commented on your blog, but i also really really love movies and it’s funny because i hated beasts of the southern wild and loved lincoln! to be fair, i hate beasts of the southern wild with such ferocity, i didn’t technically finish it!
though i did love lincoln and was amped that DDL won, hugh jackman definitely crushed it and i would not have been upset if he had won. if they awarded oscars based purely on who worked HARDER, i don’t know how hugh doesn’t get it.
